Both growing up in Erin, TN, Carter (25) and Landry (22) married in 2021 and have been growing their cattle operation ever since, purchasing two farms (Cumberland City and Erin, TN), renting several more, and adding a couple hundred head of cattle along the way.
Carter grew up knowing one thing- he wanted to be a cattleman. Whether that meant feeding bottle calves, buying stockers, raising his own cow/calf herd, hauling for the stockyard, auctioneering, or being the "vet," he wanted in. He received his degree in Agricultural Business from APSU in 2021, has worked for the Dickson Livestock Center for 7 years, and has been raising cattle his entire life. Working for himself and several other local farmers has allowed his expertise and experience to flourish. Carter is a member of the Houston County Farm Bureau Board and served as President of the Young Farmers and Ranchers for several years. Furthermore, he is a newly elected county commissioner for Houston County.
Landry was new to farm life, but she quickly found the same passion Carter had for raising cattle. When she's not running her embroidery business, she is doing the most important job of all: taking care of Carter. Field deliveries, paying the feed bill, giving rides from tractor to truck, making supper, and a lot in between.
Carter and Landry are eager to continue growing their cattle operation and share their experiences with their community. As family farms are on the decline, they couldn't be more passionate to defy the odds and make an impact the TN cattle industry.
